Rene Midi

Rene MIDI is a MIDI controller and sequencer created by Make Noise, a company known for their innovative and experimental electronic music instruments. It was first released in 2012 and has since become a staple in the electronic music community. At its core, Rene is a 3D Cartesian sequencer, meaning it allows users to control and manipulate sound by sequencing three different parameters at once – pitch, velocity, and gate. The sequencer is made up of a grid of 16 touch-sensitive pads, which can be activated by pressing down on them or by using the included touch-sensitive strips. The layout of the pads is similar to a piano keyboard, with the lowest note at the bottom left and the highest note at the top right. However, unlike a traditional keyboard, the pads are not limited to specific notes. They can be assigned to any pitch or parameter, allowing for complete customization and experimentation.
