Description
river
Kosi River, also known as Saptakoshi River, is a transboundary river that flows through the Indian states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, as well as Nepal and Tibet. It is one of the largest tributaries of the Ganges River and is often referred to as the "Sorrow of Bihar" due to its frequent floods.
Originating in Tibet, the Kosi River flows through the Himalayas and is fed by numerous tributaries before entering the Gangetic plain in Nepal. It then flows through the Sunsari, Morang, and Saptari districts of Nepal before entering India in the state of Bihar. In India, it passes through the districts of Supaul, Saharsa, Madhepura, Khagaria, and Bhagalpur before finally joining the Ganges River near the town of Kursela.
